SPRINGFIELD- The Illinois High School Association announced Wednesday that boys and girls high school basketball can continue this winter, contrary to what Governor J.B. Pritzker and the Illinois Department of Public Health advised Tuesday. The IHSA Board voted to allow Boys and Girls Basketball to begin practices on November 16, with games starting November 30th. Masks are to be worn by all players, coaches, and officials during play, according to the IHSA. They did note that it will become a local school decision to determine if they allow their basketball teams to participate. Governor J.B. Pritzker on Tuesday moved Basketball from the medium risk to high risk category for COVID-19 transmission, temporarily putting the sport on hold statewide.
