MENDOTA – A State of Emergency will be declared in Mendota Thursday to help combat the spread of COVID-19. The city announced that due to the 5 fold increase in the number of Coronavirus cases in the last 4 weeks, they will declare a Local State of Emergency on Thursday at approximately 5:30 PM. Mayor David Boelk will issue an Executive Order stating that businesses in violation of capacity or employee safety regulations that are in place to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 could face fines or be shut down. Any business with a liquor license could face a week long suspension of their liquor license and a fine, and individuals who refuse to wear a mask inside a business could be charged with reckless conduct and trespassing.
